Brookfield Redesign

Our Design Team is passionate about all things school improvement! The Design Team's role is to identify our community's priorities for ensuring all students at Brookfield have the programs and supports they need to thrive.

The Design Team Includes: Principal Daniels, Brookfield Teachers and Staff, Brookfield Family Representatives, and OUSD Staff.

Since January 2025, the Brookfield Elementary Design Team - comprised of parents, teachers and OUSD staff- has met regularly to launch and guide the school's redesign process. The team began by analyzing a wide range of data, including academic, performance, enrollment trends, and qualitative insights into school culture and climate. Through asset mapping and collaborative inquiry, the team has refined the school's core values, mission, vision, and graduate profile with input from staff, students, and families.

Recognizing the importance of identity and community connection, the team has prioritized efforts to reestablish Brookfield as a neighborhood “Village” school. This includes physical improvements to the campus and a refreshed digital presence to better reflect the school’s evolving story. As part of efforts to increase enrollment and bring high-quality programming to the campus, the team has also explored partnership opportunities and landed on a collaboration with Urban Montessori Charter School, a nearby charter school whose closure by the county creates a unique opportunity for co-location and program merger. Survey data shows strong interest among Brookfield families in Montessori programming and strong interest among UMCS for joining the Brookfield Village. Both schools have begun laying the groundwork for a co-designed future and a memorandum of understanding has been approved by the OUSD school board.
